Waxing During Pregnancy?

blog_1.jpg

This has to be up there with one of the most frequently asked questions I receive as a waxer. The simple answer is YES! Now, there are a few things to note if you are coming in for a wax during pregnancy (especially if you are new to waxing) so I will run through them here… Sensitivity- Regular waxing clients will be well used to the heat they feel during waxing but during pregnancy your sensitivity levels to heat may be higher. Don’t ever be afraid to say to your waxer if the temperature is a bit too warm. Also, please let your waxer know you are pregnant. Even if you are not yet showing it’s still important we know so that we can be aware of sensitivity levels, positioning etc… Positioning- As a waxer my number one goal (besides giving you the best wax you have ever had!) is to make sure you are as comfortable as you can possibly be, especially during pregnancy. I always give myself extra time for pregnant clients just incase you need to rest your legs for a bit, sit up for a few minutes or drink some water. I don’t want you to feel rushed. I will make sure the room is extra airy, I will elevate the head of the bed so you are not lying completely flat. Did I mention I have an extra wide bed AND a memory foam topper?! You will practically be falling asleep during your wax  Any particular aftercare instructions for pregnancy waxing? Not really. Pretty much the same as your usual aftercare. Make sure to keep your skin cool and airy over the next 24 hours after waxing.

  • This means no hot baths/showers

  • No swimming

  • No exercise

  • No lotions/tanning products applied If you can exfoliate the are 2/3 time per week between waxes.

Waxing should be every 4-6 weeks between waxing for pregnant clients. Post baby clients can wax once they have the all clear from their doctor after 6 weeks checkup. For clients who have had a caesarean delivery, we can wax as much of the hair as possible while avoiding the scar until 6 months has passed. If you ever have any waxing related question please never hesitate to contact me. I’m always happy to help you and really want you to feel as relaxed as possible coming to your waxing appointment.
